| Bio: | ![]() Character Info- -Full Name: Chao Quon -Gender: Male -Species: Vampire -PB: Son Ho Young -Character Age: Born 931 AD, Reborn 951 AD (1103 years old) -Height: 5'10” -Weight: 149 ½ lbs -Hair: black -Eyes: deepest brown -Complete Character Description: Quon is tall and slender, tall for his time, and quite handsome. His chiseled face and aquiline nose, somewhat unusual for his people, imitate the predatory birds he is much like…always above everything, watching, calculating, before he dives in for the kill. His black hair is worn semi-long and creatively mussed. His clothing style is expensive and tastefully tailored. He wears his clothes like a princely mantel, his gait erect and powerful. When his face does give way to an expression, you can be sure it is for a very good reason. In public and in social situations, Quon’s face gives way to a multitude of expressions, however, if one were to be a fly on the wall, they would see that, in private and before those he sees as beneath him, the Chinese vampire’s face remains as if a stone cold statue. -Personality: He is cold, calculated, confident, headstrong, domineering and, at times, arrogant. This is not to say that Quon cannot be loving and tender…he does possess those qualities, but they are on his terms always. He is 100% loyal to his ‘goddess’, Iris, and feels the vampires of his ‘family’ are superior to all other Sons of Cain. -Background: The story of Chao Quon begins a very long time ago, during China’s Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms period, in the Kingdom of Chu. The year is 950 AD. As his father before him, Quon served as advisor to the Prince of the Chu Kingdom and his generals, using his knowledge of Dao and his Shamanistic ‘powers’ to guide them. As the southern kingdoms were in a constant state of warfare at the time, Quon’s services were often needed. Unlike his father, he had no problem with making blood sacrifices if necessary to get an answer from a source that may demand one and knew what he wanted to know. Secretly, Quon regretted not having been born earlier so he could have been advisor to the father of the current Prince and the founder of the Chu Kingdom, Ma Yin; his reign was notable for its peace and low taxes. Wish as he might, he was advisor to Ma Yin’s fifth son, Ma Xi-Ch'ung. ![]() At 19 years of age, many young men were married, but Chao Quon didn’t have time for ‘such nonsense’. He spent his time studying scrolls, studying especially the I Ching and casting the bagua…then reading the portents of one of the 64 possible combinations and applying it to whatever daily problem the kingdom or prince was experiencing. After one of his all night I Ching sessions, and even an evocation of a serpent spirit, Quon hurried to the prince’s bedroom one morning to warn him that in 7 months, the Chu kingdom would fall to the Southern Tang. The prince, angry for having been woken and full of himself from past glory, angrily struck Quon a mighty blow and sent him from the bedroom throwing curses upon his head. Angry at himself for trying to help such a fool, Chao Quon rode like quicksilver to a cavern in the Wudang Mountains. He had used this cavern before and hidden certain things here, things for use in his role as shaman. He needed to know what to do…what he should do, not the prince, not the kingdom…him. Quon prepared for a vision quest. ![]() His body was in the heavens and it spun like a windmill, spun until it pointed west. He saw a long way, he would have far to travel. He was to leave his people and go away to a strange race of people, people who lived in the sand amongst giant tombs of long dead kings…tombs shaped like pyramids. Yesssssss! Quon was being promised immortality. This was all he had to do to achieve it. His journey would be complete when he reached the guardian of these massive tombs…a gargantuan head, rising from the sands. Quon’s vision quest left him passed out in a pool of his own sweat and it wasn’t until late the next morning that he came around. His mind was set on what he needed to do. He hurried back to his rooms and collected his scrolls, the I Ching, his potions and powders and some changes of clothing. He also packed some foodstuffs that would travel well and some silks, spices and jewels for trading. Taking his horse and two others, he set off for the west on the southern route of the trail that later man would call ‘the Silk Road’. Chao Quon had no regrets about leaving his family. His father died many years ago, the victim of an assassin’s arrow meant for his Prince. His mother only gave her love to his 6 sisters and they looked at him as if he were some strange creature, a Jiufeng to scare children or something. He had powers. He didn’t need them or their love. They were all just jealous because he was a superior being. Quon smiled coldly to himself and looked forward to gaining the one thing he didn’t have yet…immortality. He travelled at night and hid by day to sleep and rest the horses. Any minor confrontations he settled by sleight of hand or martial arts prowess. It was somewhere between Tashkent and Samarkand, just before he settled down for the night, Quon invoked the spirit of the great dragon and asked about his bid for immortality. He found out that a woman would bestow this gift upon him and it would also come with great power; the dragon then turned and disappeared into the clouds. Sleep avoided Chao Quon that night and adrenaline drove him the next day. ![]() It seemed he had travelled a lifetime from the kingdom of Chu, a kingdom he was sure didn’t even exist anymore…forget that, it seemed like a lifetime since Samarkand! He had arrived in the land of Egypt and was now coming towards the end of his journey as he approached the country’s capital, Fustat. Skirting the city and sticking to the shadows, Quon soon came before his destiny…and it was magnificent!. The head of the guardian was massive, colossal…gargantuan and, if Quon wasn’t mistaken, a king. He stood there, awestruck, communing silently with the giant, buried in the sand, and looking beyond to the great tombs. He noticed that the local population gave this area a wide berth and that suited him well. Removing his shaman bag from the saddle, he made preparations and soon began a low chant; it was his intention to speak to the spirit of the great king looming above him. Just as his consciousness moved from this world to the next, Chao Quon felt a sharp pain…no, not a pain…an ecstasy, bringing him back. It was the woman that the spirit of the great dragon told him about; this woman was drinking blood from his neck, yet he felt no fear. He had to trust his abilities, trust the spirits. Chao Quon had become Iris’ second childe and her priest. She would be his goddess. -Weakness(es): Extended exposure to the sun, decapitation, fire, heart/brain trauma, Iris, conceit -Abilities Due to Species: Supernatural strength, heightened senses and speed, quick healing, fangs -Special Dark Gifts: Ability to Converse with and Understand Animals, Ability to Manipulate Elements, e.g. Metal -Talents and Hobbies: Martial arts, weapons mastery, Shamanistic abilities -Family and Friends: Iris, his sire and goddess -Hotel or Location of Character: The Aladdin. -How long has your character been in Vegas (or the hills or the compound, etc): -Job/Duty/Position: Priest ![]() I am not Son Ho Young.
